About this Talk
We are in the middle of one of the biggest shifts in landownership in American history. As technology has gotten larger in scale, and monocultures more prevalent- less and less people are farming. With the cost of a combine in the high six figures- it's nearly impossible for a young person to get started farming corn or soybeans unless they are born into it.
What this means is that it has become even more crucial that established farm families are able to pass the farm from one generation to the next. Our nation's self-sufficiency depends on it.
Chuck Wirtz is blessed to have three sons, two of whom are involved full-time on the farm.
Today we will talk about the journey of transitioning the Wirtz farm from generation to the next with father and son Chuck and Carson.
